It was a wet and windy December. We had 4 named storms. We started with storm Elin on the 9th. This was quickly followed by Fergus on the 11th. Then Pia on the 21st and finally Gerrit on the 27th. The only snow we had was a dusting on the 2nd. it didnt settle though. Not a white Christmas again.

The maximum pressure this year was 1050.9mb on 5th of february. The minimum was 967.0mb on 4th of November.


The maximum recorded temp was 13.2 degrees at 4:20am on the 24th. The minimum was -1.6 degrees at 6:50am on the 1st.

The maximum temp this year was 27.8 degrees on the 10th of June. The minimum this year was -7.4 on the 9th of February. The Met Office said that 2023 was the warmest year on record.


The maximum recorded sustained wind speed was 21mph at 2:30pm on the 27th. There was a gust of 46mph on the 27th.

The maximum recorded wind speed this year was 27mph on the 10th January. The maximum recorded gust was 46mph on the 20th April and then again this month.


Total recorded rainfall was 10.73" this month. We only had 2 dry days.

The maximum rain in a 24 hr period this year was 1.98" on the 14th of August. The total rain for the year was 81.16". The 2nd wettest I have recorded. Only beaten by 2020 with 90.64".The wettest month this year was July with 10.37" with only 3 dry days.There were 113 recorded dry days this year. May being the best with 21 dry days.There were 8 months that had only 8 dry days or less.
