We only had 1 named storm this month but it was a bad one. Storm Darragh generated a rare red warning. North wales was on the southerly edge of it. Many events, such as Christmas markets, were cancelled. Over 700,000 homes lost power in the UK. Porth Wen solar farm on Anglesey had many panels damaged and Holyhead port was damaged resulting in no ferry services for the rest of December. Fortunatly we had no damage apart from one small tree who's root plate has lifted. It will need felling to make it safe. We had another unnamed storm on the 31st. There was no snow so it was another year without a white Christmas.

Quite a dramatic pressure chart this month, especially as storm Darragh came through. The maximum pressure this year was 1043.6mb on 11th of January. The minimum was 971.2mb on 28th of March.


The maximum recorded temp was 12.2 degrees at 2:10am on the 1st. The minimum was -2.7 degrees at 6:10am on the 11th.

The maximum temp this year was 26.1 degrees on the 12th of August. The minimum this year was the -2.7 degrees we had this month.


The maximum recorded sustained wind speed was 23mph at 3:30pm on the 8th. There was a gust of 54mph on the 7th as storm Darragh came through. Capel Curig recorded a gust of 93mph the same day.

The maximum recorded wind speed this year was 27mph on the 10th January. The maximum recorded gust was 54mph on the 7th of this month.


Total recorded rainfall was 7.19" this month. We had 6 dry days.

The maximum rain in a 24 hr period this year was 2.14" on the 2nd of September, closely followed by 2.10" in January. The total rain for the year was 71.35".The wettest month this year was January with 8.00".There were 124 recorded dry days this year. May being the best with 16 dry days.There were 5 months that had only 9 dry days or less.
