Graphs for January 2026

We had three named storms this month. Firstly we had Storm Goretti on the 9th, with the Met Office issuing a rare red warning for wind down south. Then Storm Ingrid on the 24th, closely followed by Storm Chandra on the 27th. We also had significant snow at the beginning of the month. It snowed all day on the 2nd, giving us about 2 inches. Then on the night of the 3rd into the 4th we had a further 4 inches, followed by another 2 inches into the morning of the 5th. Many schools were closed for a few days and the busses didn't run. It finally turned to rain on the 6th but not enough to clear the snow. Storm Goretti bought a little more snow on the 9th. Wind and rain on the 11th finally cleared the snow at our level, although snow has persisted all month on the mountains. South Wales seemed to get the worst of the weather this month with severe flooding in some parts and many trees brought down.

The maximum recorded temp was 10.4 degrees at 6:50pm on the 11th. The minimum was -3.6 degrees at 2:40am on the 5th.

The maximum recorded sustained wind speed was 27mph. There was a gust of 65mph at 3:10am on the 27th as storm Chandra came through.

Total rainfall this month was 4.91". There were 7 dry days.
